“Summer“ multicultural information meetings Print
At the turn of June and July 2010, cultural mediators organized five consecutive multicultural information meetings to promote community life of migrants in Slovakia, with financial support of the IOM MIC.
 
Bratislava, June 20th 2010
The summer set of information meetings was opened by the Islamic community cultural mediator for Slovakia. The meeting “Babinec“ was organized for women and provided space for gaining new contacts by production of oriental jewellery and learning calligraphy. The afternoon was characterized by pleasant atmosphere and the scent of jasmine tea.

Bratislava, June 27th 2010
Members of the Cuban community and their guests prepared “the Cuban brunch“. During the informational part of the meeting, they learnt about programs supporting foreigners’ integration in the society. The cultural mediator presented activities and plans of the Club of Friends and Sympathizers of Cuban and Latin American Culture in Slovakia. The Cuban community in Slovakia introduced their country to guests with music, singing, dance, poetry and typical cuisine.

Bratislava, July 4th 2010
The meeting of the international community of women in Bratislava with the subtitle “Healthy, beautiful, successful“ was organized by the cultural mediator from the Ukraine community. There were presentations aimed at healthcare and practical exercises. Women from more than 10 countries took part in the meeting. At the end, the participants tasted typical food from their national cuisine, which they prepared and brought to the meeting.

The Migration Information Centre established cooperation with representatives of the Ecuador community, which resulted in the first information meeting – a Day of Ecuadorians in Slovakia. Aside from acquainting the guests with the IOM MIC activities, the Embassy of Ecuador cooperated at the meeting as well and presented activities in the support of their countrymen.

Bratislava, July 17th 2010
Cooperation with communities from Latin American countries continued with another meeting bearing the peculiar name Latinos. Migrants from Cuba, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile, Peru and Costa Rica participated in the meeting. They presented their countries by singing, poetry, dance and typical food of South America in an authentic atmosphere of a Peruvian restaurant.
