| First migrants receive financial support for requalification |
|
|
The Migration Information Centre (MIC) awarded the first financial grants towards the completion of requalification courses in 2010. The scheme to support educational and requalification courses is aimed at third-country nationals who reside in Slovakia legally and have a work permit (or are able to acquire it). The aim of the scheme is to enable applicants to improve their qualification and their chances to find job. The courses are implemented in co-operation with accredited training institutions and you can complete them in the town where you live. The grant in the maximum amount of 548 EUR covers the cost of the course, travel to attend the course, books and other study materials and administrative costs necessary to obtain the relevant course certificate or authorisation. The successful applicants commit themselves to complete the course and any final exam required. During 2006 to 2009 MIC awarded courses to more than 90 migrants. Most often they attended Slovak language courses, vocational courses or other professional courses (computers, accounting, language etc.) MIC advised its clients to apply for courses as soon as possible, as all courses awarded during this year need to be completed by the end of October 2010. Complete information about the conditions of awarding financial grants and the application for the financial contribution can be found in the category “Job counselling and courses.” Applications are accepted continuously. |
