Migrant communities in Slovakia Print
Activities of the Migration Information Centre aims at and supporting and cooperating with a wide spectrum of associations, union, clubs, organizations and informal groups of foreigners living in Slovakia on a long-term basis.

The cooperation of the Migration Information Centre with communities of migrants is working also through cultural mediators. The task of cultural mediators is to work with ethnical and cultural communities in regions, establish contacts with closed communities where it is difficult to distribute information and integration services. Moreover, the MIC will organise information meetings for migrants focusing on the issues concerning their integration into the Slovak labour market, society, and on supporting their community life.

Afghani Community

Afhani Community (AC) is a civic organization that operates in Slovakia and unites members of all ethnics from Afghanistan that live in SR. Union provides to their members different help, organizes social, cultural, sport and informative undertakings that are opened also for the citizens of Slovakia.

Vietnamese community

Community life of the Vietnamese people living in Slovakia is organised by the Vietnamese community in Slovakia – a civil association of Vietnamese from all over Slovakia, has around 500 members and organizes mutual help to nationals in Slovakia and also in Vietnam.

Islamic foundation in Slovakia

Islamic foundation in Slovakia is a confessional organization of Muslims living in Slovakia and provides space to all Muslim people in the country including converted Slovaks. The foundation is financed from its own sources. Main activities of Islamic foundation in Slovakia are related to the religion: it organizes worships, increases knowledge about Muslim community in Slovakia, informs about Islam, and alike. The foundation operates its own internet web page, organizes cultural activities, works with the Slovak media, helps applicants for asylum from Muslim countries, and cooperates with the initiative People against racism.

Union of friends of the Islamic literature

The aim of Union of friends of Islamic literature is to advance to a Slovak citizen Islamic culture and Islamic traditions.

African Community

OZAS (Civil Association of Africans in Slovakia)

OZAS is a non-profit, voluntary, non-governmental and non-political organization uniting Slovak citizens with African origin and their family members which was created with the aim of satisfying interests of its members. OZAS welcomes also other citizens, natural persons and corporations, which we will help with fulfilling goals of association. Creation of OZAS was motivated by an ambition to fasten relations between Africans living in Slovakia and to create from its members community seeking integration into Slovak society which is suppose to help to optimalization social place members of association.

PLOP Slovakia

PLOP Slovakia is non-governmental organization which unites migrants originating from the Portuguese speaking countries living in the SR. Its main mission is to support dissemination of information and to exercise foreign development aid and cooperation mainly for Africa, Latin America and Asia. Except for activities intending to facilitate the integration of migrants in Slovakia, PLOP has two main areas of operation. In the area of multiculturism it attempts to maintain the identity of African migrants living in Slovakia by organising events such as expositions of African art, fashion shows of African clothing, dance performances, samples of gastronomy, and alike. In the area of self-sufficiency, the organization tries to help many Africans gain self-confidence by engaging them into voluntary organisation of activities and creating their own mini-projects. It opens up for them opportunities for long term professional development, gaining work opportunity and integration into society.
