| Further permit for the permanent residence |

A permanent residence permit is first granted for the period of five years and after this time the Police Authority can grant, based on an application of the foreigner, so called "further permit" which is valid for an unlimited period of time.
The "further permit" can be granted to a foreign national:
The foreign national submits an application for further permit in person on an official form to the Police Authority in Slovakia, at the latest on the last day of validity of the first permit. The application form is available for download on the webpage of the Bureau of Border and Alien Police.
The Police Department shall decide within 90 days of submitting the application. Accompanying documentsWith the application for the further permit the foreigner will enclose the following documents (not older than 90 days) proving:
The Police Authority may request also a document (not older than 30 days) confirming that the applicant has secured accommodation in Slovakia and a document confirming, that he/she has attended a course of a Slovak language. EXPLANATION
ApplicationAn application must be submitted on an official form issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic. The form is available for download here.Photos2 colour photographs sized 3 x 3.5 cm (passport format)FinancesThe stay of the applicant must be financially covered at least in the amount of a statutory "monthly life minimum" per month of stay, at least for one year (till July 2012 the sum of the life minimum is EUR 189,83/month). The financial coverage can be proved either by submitting a bank account statement or by submitting a confirmation given by the employer about the applicant's monthly salary. Foreign nationals applying for a permanent residence permit for the purpose of family unification may document their financial coverage by a verified written affirmation of a person with whom they are applying for family unification, and a bank statement of such person or an employer's confirmation of such person's monthly salary.AccomodationThe police department will request documents about accommodation, if it is not obvious from the documents submitted previously that the foreign national does have accommodation.LanguageThe police deparment will request a proof of having completed a Slovak language course if it is obvious that the foreigner is not familiar with basics of the Slovak language, for example if he is not able to react to basic questions. |
