The election to the self-governing regional bodies are also based on general, equal and direct election principles, by the secret ballot (more details in the article about the Election to the National Council).
Who can vote in regional election:
The election rights are suspended in these cases: imprisonment and a loss of a legal capacity. To be elected as a member of a self-governing body one has to be able to vote, to have a permanent residence in the district where he/she stands for election, and there cannot be any impediment to his/her election rights. To be elected as a chairperson of the self-governing body one has to be able to vote, must be at least 25 years of age on the day of the election and there cannot be any impediment to his/her election rights. |
