| Where can I apply for my visa extension? |
|
It is not possible to extend your Schengen visa in Slovakia. Exception: If your short-term visa is for less than 90 days, you may apply for extension of visa for up to 90 days on grounds of a natural disaster, humanitarian reasons or serious personal reasons. The Ministry of Interior is competent to make decisions about visa extensions. If your short-term visa is about to expire and you have no residence permit in Slovakia, you must leave the territory of Slovakia. You may apply for a new short-term visa while abroad. You can apply for visa in order to enter Slovakia by submitting a filled-out official application form at a Diplomatic Mission or a Consular Office of the Slovak Republic. According to the Council Regulation (EC) No 415/2003 of 27 February 2003 the Border Police Department may issue visa at the border only if required for humanitarian reasons, or if it is in the interest of the Slovak Republic; or if the foreign national is a family member of EU/EEA citizen and this fact has been reliably proven. Pursuant to international treaty visa can be issued also by Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office of other EU member state abroad. For more information click here. WARNING: There is no legal claim on obtaining the visa applied for, except for visa being granted to a family member of a refugee while meeting statutory requirements of the Act on Asylum. The foreign national is not notified of the reason for visa rejection. |
