To obtain a work permit it is necessary to submit an official application form called "Application for Granting a Work Permit", which contains the applicant's personal data as well as the "Promise given by the employer to employ the foreigner". The application form shall be submitted in two copies.

There is also a possibility that the employer submits the application form on behalf of the foreigner. PLEASE NOTE that in such cases the employer must also submit a written Power of attorney provided by the employee.

Other required documents are: copy of passport, proof of education (diploma, certificate – translated into Slovak language by an official translator certified by the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic, the translation must include the tranlator´s round seal).

The required documents shall be submitted to the locally competent Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family according to the future place of work.
